Influences?

So I don't know if theres been none or a million of threads like this, but I'm looking for an artist or band I can study and listen to in hopes of learning more about the bass guitar.I think my question is, what is a good artists or bands should I listen to as example of more complicated, yet "good" sounding, basslines?

And I do know who Jaco Pastorious,so I'm looking for other anwers.

I had a big list, but really if you haven't explored James Jamerson yet, he's the perfect example of a complicated yet effective bassline. IMHO more suppportive and grooving than Jaco's stuff, plus Jamersons ideas are more generally applicable to most pop music.

Start out with dUg Pinnick from Kings X. The perfect rhythm section IMHO and bass tone to die for.

Then move onto someone like Marcus Miller. The guy is everywhere!

The "Close To The Edge" album by YES has some very cool stuff on it as well.

Anything you find on Paul Chambers, Ray Brown, Jamerson, John Entwistle, Geddy Lee, Justin Chancellor.

Try it in that order. The list would go on and on but...

what style of music? any of Frank Zappa's bass players are worth a listen, particularly Scott Thunes, Tom Fowler & Arthur Barrow
