I'm on the second of three years of The Institute's Degree course. They also do a two year foundation degree in 'creative musicianship' or something.

The course I'm on is great, and the teachers are really fantastic. It challenges you in so many different areas, not just playing the bass but many areas of musicianship and a range of other skills like keys playing, backing vox, recording, composing, arranging etc.

It helps to make you more employable by giving you a whole range of skills.

The facilities are good, but not the best in the world. Every now and then you'll go into a room and find an amp has a dodgy switch or something, but apart from that they're very good.

They have some rockin masterclasses too. Stu Hamm's coming up soon, they've people like Billy Sheehan and Anthony Jackson come by.

I can't comment about the Tech schools, but if you want to know anything about the Institute then I'm happy to help.

I think the Institute used to be BassTech or grew out of it or something. Some of their receipts still say BassTech anyway :S
