I recommend Carol Kaye's "Bass DVD Course". It's 2 hours and will take you from beginner to intermediate. Important instruction on playing technique, basic music theory for different styles of playing, lots of examples. The price is very reasonable. There is no unuseable data given to you. She has many years of playing experience as one of the busiest studio bassists of the 60s and 70s and has recorded for just about everyone. It's the real deal. Check out her website at www.carolkaye.com

I recommend Todd Johnson's "Technique Builders" - good stuff for any bass player at any level.

I esp. like Todd's easygoing and supportive manner: like having a buddy there with you, encouraging and helping you out.
