Interactive, Online Lessons?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm wondering if there are any good online interactive courses, or instructors who teach online (via Skype), etc.? I did some research here but did not succeed in finding anything.

I commute between two cities during the week and arranging a schedule with a "live" in person instructor is impossible for me. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Brian

berklee school of music offers excellent on line courses. probably requires 10-15 hours per week of your time, but you decide when. cost is around $800-900 for a semester.

well, im biased, because he was my last bass teacher, but glenn letsch does online lessons. i believe he has been doing this for a couple years. he is currently busy touring with robin trower, but i know he will be free in november if you can wait.

i dont think this is a shameless plug or anything, but here is his site:

http://www.glennletsch.com/lessons.html

hmm... oddly enough, i dont see the online lesson thing there right now. maybe he doesnt do it anymore? again, not to plug glenn, but hes a great teacher, and itd be worth at least sending an email. i know he at least used to do it.

im still in occasional contact with him, but havent taken lessons from him in years. he has (or had... not sure) a column in bassplayer, or some other magazine, has written books, has a video i think, and teaches at a local community college.

if he still does video lessons, hes the man, and an excellent way to go. can you tell i liked him as a teacher? hehe... whatever choice you make, im sure you cant go wrong. good luck.

Check out Music Dojo. I took a course there a couple of years ago and it was quite good.

If you're a beginner I do them.

I won't post a link - not sure if it's against the forum rules. But if you follow my signature you'll find them. But again - they are for beginners. At some stage I'll fast track intermediates into the system, but that's a way off yet.

My instructor does exactly this. You can contact him at: russrodgers@gmail.com.

I believe Pacman (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/member.php?u=1621) has also taken (in-person) lessons from Russ in the past.

Adam Nitti does Skype lessons, too. He's on the forum.

Here's a new one for you

Check out "teachmebassguitar.com" - it's 8 DVDs worth of Bass Instruction from Roy Vogt. The production quality is unlike anything else out on the market.
Here's part of an intermediate/advanced lesson but they've got beginner ones too
Best of luck!

I teach bass and I'd like to get into this sort of thing. If anyone knows what technology is involved I'd be interested.

Anthony Wellington does this. He tours with Victor Wooten, and is an amazing player and teacher. http://www.bassology.net/

Drop me an email to todd@toddjohnsonmusic.com and I'll give you all the details and get you started.

Let me know if I can be of service.
