ISO: Structured online or DVD beginner instruction (read for details)

Hi everyone,
I have a family member in a rural area who wants to learn but has no access to local lessons.

I have sent books but what this guy needs is a lesson program which is very structured in the sense of:

"Start here. When you can do these things, move to the next lesson."

All the books I have looked at or looked for seem pretty spread out - in other words, for a self learner, there is a lack of specific goals or tasks to work on before moving on - all things one would expect from sitting with an actual teacher.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Book

Although not a DVD I would suggest this book. It's 3 books in one and starts at the very beginning, assumes you know nothing about playing the bass or reading music. It also has CD's that cover the lessons so you can hear what is supposed to be played.

Again, this is not a DVD but a book....... and a great one at that IMO. Like the one above it assumes you know absolutely nothing about the bass. I found it very helpful, and still refer back to it from time to time. Dont be put off by the "D" word. It comes with a CD.

The book is : "Bass Guitar for Dummies".
