Isolating an instrument to figure out tab?

Are there any good programs that can isolate certain instruments in a songs to here what they are playing? Im looking to figure some spin doctors songs out but can always here what the bass is playing? Thanks!

I think what you want is an EQ.

This can be done on almost any decent mp3/audio player.

Best result is usually achieved with something like a parametric EQ however.

The trick is to try and isolate the bass and cut everything you dont want to hear. As for a bassline this can be rather tricky, but you can atleast make it easier to hear.

Try and cut everything above 4-500hz and emphasize around 200.
Not all songs have the bass tone in the same register, but generally this is where the "body" of a bassline usually resides. (Where it becomes easiest to hear it)

There's a PC program called Amazing Slow Downer. It's meant for transcpription. It works with CD's or MP3's. It has an EQ, and you can slow down a tune without affecting pitch. It's great for tunes where the bass is buried in the mix.
