I've got a pupil....what to teach in a short time?

Basically a friend of mine wants me to teach her some basic bass techniques and theory. Only problem is that I have just 10 lessons with her of an hour each, and so I'm a bit stuck as to what to teach.

What sort of stuff should I cover, bearing in mind she has some piano experience and so can read music?

Anything which can be covered in 10h is good!

PS She's playing my fretless Shergold...

Major and Minor Scales for Bass
Left/Right hand excercises
One Finger Per Fret Rule
Basic Songs
Slap?

And not to step on any toes, but wouldn't it be easier for her to start out with a fretted instrument?

Probably give her a few broad subjects that she can work on herself later.

Intonation
Basic chord/scale theory and how they work together
Right/left hand technique
Work on her relative pitch and how she can use it on bass
Few examples of styles of music; Motown, latin, jazz

I know you said she can read, but can she read charts? That might be a good thing to over as well.

P.s. I would stick her with the fretless, it will be a little bit steeper of a learning curve, but it will definitely help her in the long run.

She really wants to play my Shergold, so I'm letting her. Plus, the only other bass I have is a Yamaha 5er which is far too heavy for her (she's only 5ft tall) and it uses a custom tuning which is pretty much designed to be played by me during worship gigs.

I'm not sure....she's also learning guitar so I'm assuming she'll have come across them.

I think Ed Friedland's books are great, and volumes 1 through 3 cover alot from beginner theory on.
