Jazz Standard "Real Book" Terminology Question

When it says "Bass walks in 4 for solos"..

Does that mean just walk with quarter notes? The piece is in 4/4 time.

Yea that sounds right. What piece is it? But hey the great thing is its jazz, it doesn't really matter if you're not playing what the ink on the page says as long as it sounds good.

I would take that to mean the bass player leaves the stage 1 bar after the solos start.

That's a homework assignment, alright! Good luck with the tune. I've been tackling it for nearly 20 years and still don't know how to play it.

Generally...'walk for solos' not only means that you swing quarter notes over the form during those solos, but also that you play 'in two' - half notes, in other words - for the head.
