I just played what I would describe as my first serious jazz gig filled with standards and it went quite well. Our set list was around 21 songs. They like us so much that we were asked to play overtime so we added some free form jamming, R&B, Blues and Funk to the list and the pay was quite good for 6 hours. I really want to get a good handle on Jazz standards for future gigs, so what in addition to the list below would be good songs to add to my repetoire? Oh, the band leader blessed me with a CD filled with multiple Real and Fake Books and I also downloaded the iReal book for my iPhone and boy did that come in handy.
Help make my list grow:
Round Midnight
Beatrice
I Cant get started
I Got it bad
In a mellow tone
In a sentimental mood
So What
Red Clay
Jordu
Just Friends
Prelude to a kiss
Lady Bird
Take the A train
Rhythm Changes
Recordame
Nica's Dream
Invitation

Chord progressions to hundreds of standards.
Then in the tool bar section go into Backing Tracks for mp3's on most of the songs listed, i.e. not all selections you have chord progression on will also have backing tracks, but, most will be there.
Good luck, have fun. |
