Key E flat what similar key can be used?

Hi,

I have a piece of music in E flat but in the bass section the notes are to low for the bass guitar.

Is it possible to play in another key that sounds ok when the rest of the song is played in E flat?

If so how do you work out what key

Thanks,

Arnak

Tune your bass down. Or you could play on the octave.

Is this a solo piece if no one else to worry about sure you can transpose it up within the range of your bass. There are tuning options, or simply displace that section up and octave.

I would try octave displacement first. The ear doesn't care when the next note it expects shifts octaves. You hear this in basslines all the time with players that try to stay down in the sweet spot, or playing melodies up high run out of neck and drop down.

E Flat

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, as I will be playing along to a cd I'll try going up an octave.
