Latin style

Hello, after listeing to the song El Centro ( a jazz/latin song) , I got interested into latin music. Is there any style of playing (ex rythms, chord patterns/progression, scales) that are essential to this style? Thanks

"Latin" covers a huge range of musical styles, all with their own distinctive rhythms...impossible to sumarise it in a few words here!!

Like any style of music, latin has it's own rythms, grooves and feel. You should be able to easily find books or info on line about it but the best way to get the hang out of it, again like any style, is to listen to the masters the more you can.

I'd reccomend listening a lot to this variety of styles...

Myself I like chachacha, rumba, guaguanco, mambo and danzon the best... but there's a lot more than those.
