| | | | You're a blues fan, so why not transcribe blues solos down in an octave where you can play them on bass? That'd be a great place to start. Also, use the search feature this forum offers, as you'll find a wealth of information pertaining to playing lead bass. |

thnks | For a start listen to what guitar players play and apply that to bass mixing it in with standard bass lines. It also helps to learn the melody to songs. Playing melodically is essential, I feel, to playing lead bass without sounding indulgent. |

Seriously , thats all you have to do.....understand how modes work , it'll take you a bit of time , and practice on them . once you can move in a single key comfortably over the fretboard , before you know it , you'll be playing lead bass . |

| | | | copy solos, and copy solos, and copy solos. then memorize them. if you cram enough of them in, they'll recombine and come out fresh. it's sort of like learning by way of forgetting. |

Follow the advice given earlier in this strings, and practice your scale runs and then try to put together some sort of melody. Heres an example of 2 lead bass songs I have up on my Soundclick page, one slow and chordy and one very fast paced.. Not for all tastes but I have fun with it. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/defa...&content=music | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
