Lesson with anyone: What would your question be?

A genie in a bottle gives you a wish. You get to take a lesson with any bassist, alive or deceased, and you get to ask them one question. Who would the bassist be and what would the one question be?

I think I would take a lesson with Jeff Berlin, play for him and ask him, "What do you think I should work on next?"

Glenn

+1 to that.... although I would expect him to ask, "Where do you want to go?"

I think I'd like a lesson with Ray Brown. I'd mention that one of his first gigs was with Dizzy Gillespie and remind him that Dizzy said that it was his life experiences that make him the player he was. Then I'd ask Ray what he thought is own life experiences where that helped him swing and groove the way he does.

I would take a lesson with Ron Carter the guy has played with all the greats, is a legend himself. I'd would try to split the time between bass lines and improv. Just play for him and let say whatever he wants. Then at the end as him who he's enjoy/enjoyed playing with the most.

Gene Simmons, and I would ask him how to amass a fortune in rock and roll when he started off as a broke schoolteacher.
