Lingering pain in pad of finger??

Sign in to disble this ad
Any advice on this? The first finger of my right hand (one of my main 2 "plucking" fingers) has a lingering pain going on. It's not a blister or anything obvious like that. Its almost like a cyst or something deeper inside the finger has formed as a result of the playing. Anyone encountered anything like this before? What do you do about it?

Hmm, you may be right. I've heard you can get metal slivers from round wounds. I wonder if that's it.

There is a benign tumor called a glomus tumor that can present like this - you ought to see a hand surgeon or plastic surgeon and get it checked out. You can google it up and learn more about it. Again, it is benign but painful.

See a doc. (Or let a doc see your finger).

Try not playing for a day or two. Pain level go down?

I had something like that happen one time. Kinda like an internal bruise.

If you take something thin (like the tip of a pen top or something like that) can you find the exact spot where it hurts the most?
Or is the whole area.

Maybe your callous has grown over something? Maybe try sanding it down a bit.

This info will be helpful when the doc sees you.

YMMV, IMO, IME, etc.
