Looking for groove oriented bass teacher in Anchorage...

I know there are a few players here from Alaska. I'm fairly new to this part of Alaska and don't know a lot of the players. I was told that Jeremy Strunk was good but wondered what options I had or if anyone here has a recommendation.

I want to work on a variety of things but the main goal is to be able to take any chord progression and come up with a dozen or so grooves to go with it. Main emphasis is worship with a lesser emphasis on rock & jazz.

I live in the Valley but work in Anchorage so either location is fine.

Ivan Knight is good, as is Joe D'entrone.
I'm not sure if Bob Andrews still teaches, but I think so.

For anyone who has recommendations, would you mind listing a bit about the teacher and PM'ing me with their contact info or pointing me towards their webpage, Myspace or whatever? Thanks much.

Valley Teachers

Johnny Ramirez is a phenomenal worship leader. He has performed professionally for many years, and has extensive teaching experience. He would be a great person to talk to about it. He should have some contact info for you. His brother happens to be one of the best bass players out right now, having played for several years for Israel Houghton, and many other top names. I will PM with his contact info.

That's a great idea. Our worship leader/lead guitarist gets together with Ramirez occasionally and speaks highly of him. I didn't know he was teaching. Isn't his son a drummer?

yes

His son is on track to be a great producer by his early twenties. He plays drums (excellent), piano, guitar, bass, and sings.

Johnny is very versatile. He plays bass better than a lot of "bass" players, but doesn't make a big deal about it. Talk to him, depending on your skill level he may refer you to one of the several bass players he knows.

Thanks for that idea about the military band. I know an officer connected to that band.
