Looking for notation software (kinda)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

I'm looking for a software package that will allow me to print out songs with simple chord diagrams (for our guitarist) above the lyrics. I've looked at all the market leaders and most of them are overkill for what I need. Additionally, they seem to make it hard to do this unless you are entering the actual notation or tab.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Dan

Band in a box. You simply put in the chord progression and the program will generate an complete arrangement in any style and in any tempo. You can print the leadshet with chord, chord diagrams, lyrics, etc. As easy as typing the cords.

Sibelius will do that, but I'd imagine it's one of the 'overkill' ones you already looked at

Sibelius G7. Standard Sibelius 4 is really expensive, while G7 is designed for guitarists (and bassists) and is a lot more affordable. It will produce nice lead sheets, chords charts, standard notation and TAB.

However, if you're not looking for any notation ability at all, and just the ability to create chord diagrams above the lyrics, I've found that ChordWriter is very good for this purpose (http://www.appcabin.com/chordwriter.html) it's basically just a modified Word Pad with the ability to generate chord boxes. It serves my acoustic songwriting purposes nicely, so maybe it will help you?

Yeah, but he said chord diagrams. I think he needs visual representations.
