Looking for a Teacher in the SF bay area

Sign in to disble this ad
Been self taught for nearly a year now. I really love playing the bass and am willing to dedicate practice time to it. The thing is I want to make efficient use of the my practices and get better faster.

I have decided that I need the wisdom of a teacher to tell me what to practice and when. I want someone who will be able to teach me technique, music theory, how chords function, and anything that will help my endeavors to become a better musician.

Can you reccommend me a teacher? I am looking for a teacher in SF or on the Peninsula somewhere. Along with your reccomendations can you give a little about your experience with them? Any leads are appreciated!

I used to teach, but I don't really have the schedule for it, so I would recommend Bill Noertker, www.noertker.com.

Bill is quite simply the best bass teacher I've ever known. Musically, he's brilliant. There is no doubt about his ability. But what separates Bill from the rest is that he understands the art of teaching. He's patient, sensitive, and he's not afraid to call you on something when he knows that you know better. I took lessons from him for about 5 years I think, and I would've continued if not for my schedule. He'll give you comprehensive training including all musical genres, (including non-western music if you want it), theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more.

If he doesn't work out, we can personally talk, and I can see what my schedule is like. I offer a discount to TBers. Check out my profile and homepage for an idea about who I am as a player.

Thanks for the reccomendation. I will contact Bill.

I am not planning to start taking lessons until mid May so hopefully I can get a decent list of teachers to check out until then.
