Hi all
I just tried tuning every strings down by half step, and this is so cool!
I did this because rise against tunes almost every songs down by a half step (correct me if i'm wrong) and because i recently started studying baroque cello from contemporary cello and baroque cello's are tuned down to Af Df Gf Cf (high to low)
So now, i'm wondering the pros and cons with drop tuning every string by half step
I understand that the intonation in the higher frets would suffer, but if i do a set up for that, it should be alright...
And what else should i know about drop tuning?
I use Fender Jazz 24 if that matters |

The setup may or many not need any adjustment, but beyond that, there's not really any thing special to know--you've just gotta remember that you're tuned down if you play with more than one group and they're not all in the same tuning.

| | | | i go lower than that with an 07 american jazz. i tune to c# f# b e, and my intonation is fine. yes, i have set it up properly to keep the strings from buzzing and for intonation, and i also have heavier strings on there. as for pros and cons? ummm.... pros- i think it sounds cooler tuned a little lower. cons- if your guitarists don't tune low, it can be difficult to play fast unison licks in your metal band. if you're not in metal, you should be good.
as for things you should know? the lower you go, the sexier you are to the ladies. |

I really need new strings i think (10 months of playing with a set!)
So i guess that i should look for heavy ones
And how do you type flats or sharps without spelling them out
Like how you put sharp. |

it's on my keyboard, shift+3.
as for strings, you may not need heavier strings for only a half step. if you're buzzing a lot, try a setup first. they may be a little loose, but you may like it that way. i know i do. when i say "heavier" i mean 105-45. strings are loose, action is low, i don't play very hard to begin with, so it works for me that way. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
