Lydian Chromatic Concept

Does anybody have a (relatively) succinct explanation of the Lydian Chromatic Concept?

Please note, this thread is regarding the explanation of the concept, not a discussion of its merits - please if you want to discuss that could you start a new thread, so that anybody interested in reading about the Lydian Chromatic Concept doesn't have to wade through a lot of argument about 'so and so did or didn't know theory and look what he did, why can't we all be uncarved blocks?'.
