Maybe MarloweDK deleted the stuff himself?

But really... too bad that his stuff isn't on Youtube anymore...

There's another thread about this.

The short story is that youtube removed MarloweDK's account for "copyright violations" associated with is play along stuff.

no he explained that he became persona non grata and asked that if anyone had downloaded his original stuff to put it back up for him......seems like the bots are really going after the play along stuff

I've managed to stay alive through it all, but I get the impression I was close to deletion. I deleted a load of my "Learn to play" vids that had hundreds of thousands of hits together. Also my bass-only versions of Blackbird, Needle and the damage done and hallelujah (loads of tapping, chordal work-took hours to work out).

Just made a short vid about the situation:

He's now here. I deeply regret MarloweDK's account suspension. Fortunately his website is alive and well, but anyway I hope he will return to YouTube.

Maybe I'm wrong but, isn't the problem caused by including original recordings (for playalongs, for instance) on YT videos? As far as I understand, the Video Identification tool works based on that.

WOW! Funkstar650 is gone also, he had a ton of bass videos and all have been removed save 2 or 3. I swear the guy played Power by Marcus Miller perfectly, I must have watched that video 10 times and now,,,poof!

Oh man , thats great! I had checked in on his vids yesterday and they were all gone except for a half dozen or so, but all the play alongs were gone. Hmmm I wonder how he got them back up, in his latest vid in honor of Marlow he said he was getting the same hassle.

I guess the story still remains true, enjoy it while it's there, cause nothing lasts forever.
I had a Jaco Tribute up on Youtube and in two years it had over 20,000 hits then along came Warner Brothers and had it removed for mechanical copy-write violations. It seems JPI, the Pastorius family own 100% copy-write to his tunes but WB own the mechanicals because he was signed to their label when he recorded the tune.
I understand Youtube has or had an agreement with these companies then talks for a re-agreement broke down and these companies hired goons to sit all day sifting thru Youtube videos seeing who was in violation and had them yanked. They were randomly yanking stuff then putting them back up with no explanation. A real BIG BROTHER moment.
I would think that since these companies do no advertising for any of their back catalogs they'd be happy someone was promoting the music but no that's not the case. They've resorted to a backyard sandbox mentality of "Its mine and I'm going to tell my mom if you touch it", way of thinking. I'm quite sure brought on more by all the sampling in Rap, than Youtube.
You don't know what you got till it's gone.

Hey Kris (Dmanlamius)

Metacafe is an option for videos - their copyright policy seems to be less stringent and you can then embed on your website.

Hope that helps

So, what is the whole deal?

People listen to great players on youtube, that play almost exactly like the original, and because so, they don't buy the tunes?

It's all to do with this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7933565.stm

This example only applies to the UK, but it's all bound up with the same copyright/royalty issues that Google is taking a sledgehammer approach to throughout the world.

No clue... but I've bought a lot of the recordings after hearing them on MarloweDK's page.
