melodies on basguitar

Hi,
I'm looking for recordings of melodies played on bassguitar. No fast stuff, just good melodies of at least a few bars long (like "A remark you made" by weather report)

Mark Egan is worth seeking out for that.

Honestly, the melody doesn't have to be a bass melody. You know Jaco so follow his advice.
Listen to the radio and find a tune you like, play the melody on bass by ear.

One day you might just sing like he did.

+10 A great melody works on any instrument. Plus learning/working on making them come to life as if a singer was doing it. Pick a classic tune, learn the melody, then get some recordings of great singer or horn player doing the song and start working on getting your phrasing like them. Great phasing will help basslines, solos, all your playing.

The thing is that I'd like to give my students some nice and inspiring examples of bassguitarists playing the melody, on a level they can connect to. This will help them to develop a better idea of the possibilities of the instrument and the difference between playing a melody and playing a bassline.
I want to make this as easy as possible for them, that's why I asked this particular question. In this respect the advice of "do like jaco did, sing any melody en transfer it to the bass" is not very helpful.
