| | | | your right! its good for your time, thats why!
not to use it as a 10 BPM quarter note, but to think of it as like increments of 4 or 8 bars with one click. |

I take my nice Boss metronome (I have the DB-90) with the loop function and have it place a downbeat on every 4 or 8/16/8000 (ok maybe 32 max) bars, while leaving the other bars blank. It's kinda hard to do at first, and hard to explain, but maybe consulting the owners manual if/when you get your hands on one would help. This is a really effective way to do what you are wanting to do, and you can either watch the light for every quarter note to "double check" your time between clicks, or ignore it to test yourself.
Hope that helps! |

It goes from 1-220 bpm.
Yes. Think of the time between clicks as a measure unit instead of a pulse unit. You can divide it anyway you want. I've never tried 1 bpm. Seems like something that you would have to work down to. Right now I don't go lower than 30bpm. I'm just finding a lot to do there.

40 is already slow enough but going down to 30 is hell LOL
1 BPM is actually 1 click a minute. Ouchhh
In my book, there are some exercises at 40 and the first measure of count, the click is on the 1 and 3 which gives you an actual pulse at 20 and I find it almost impossible to get the tempo before the second bar with all the beats.
I don't see the need to go lower then 30 personally, |

Hope that helps! | I freakin dare you to post a video of you playing with a click on beat 1 of every 8 bars, heck even 4 bars.

This thing is so useful with all the subdivisions at your fingertips with separate levels. I think Tama is doing something similar but that old Boss box is really hard to beat.
Just for your info, I wanted to buy a new model in case mine dies because I have it for almost 10 to 15 years. So I bought the new Boss Dr.Beat DB-60 which is more sophisticated then my old tic-tac with programmed patterns which sound like a big mess and the worst part is that the accentuated beat actually FLAMs with the the rest. That really bugs me big time. Technology doesn't always evolve in the right direction.
Just wanted to share my thoughts on the old Dr.Beat which is the best metronome ever. Find a used one if you can. |

| This is actually an old technique of practicing.
To add even more of a challenge, have the click fall some other 'beat' (i.e., 2, 3 or 4) every 4 or 8 measures - then an upbeat (i.e., and of 3) for added fun.
Then move on to other time signatures. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
