Snow Patrol-Shut your eyes

I could hear that bass line coming from a live band miles down the road and instantly recognize it. With as much Hadrien, Manring and other technical music im glued to at the moment, that bassline still makes me stop and say "yep....thats it"

aaannnndd go forum, go.

From the 80s, Move Closer, by Phyliss Nelson, basic single note bass line that covers a I IV V progression through the song in various permutations, and slow with it, but it's where those notes go that makes the song..talk about locked into a bass drum....great song.

Not An Addict - K's Choice - YouTube

It feels to me like one more note might have ruined it

Had a listen to Gish again recently by Smashing Pumpkins - the bass is simply hypnotic - throughout the entire album. Wish Darcy was still playing somewhere.

Willie Weeks' intro to Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou".

Also his line on Randy Newman's "Baltimore".

"Separator" on the new Radiohead album - does that count as simple? its excellent.

That's why I love the bass - a single whole note can give you a chill.

+1 to that.

A few that come to mind are "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin, "So What'cha Want" by The Beastie Boys (one note actually), and "Everyday People" Sly and the Family Stone.
