Wink Music looping software for improvising...

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys...Not sure if i placed this in the right category but sure hope i did
I was wondering if anyone out there knew about any kind of jamming software, something like garageband but only for pc...

I would really need some kind of software which allows you to plug in a bass and improvise over the other instruments looping...
It would be even better if i could change style: Reggae, blues, jazz, rock, latin Ecc

Thanks for your help
P.S I dont mind buying software, as long as it's worth it

Search TalkBass for "BIAB" or "Band in a Box" and you find glowing reviews for the application that you describe.

The guys will give you some sites, and there are plenty of videos on the Internet.

How about using your CD's -- All you need is to be able to find the key the CD song is in. Once you find that make a note on the CD case that song # 1 is in G or whatever.

Listen to the CD and starting on the G string first fret... move up one fret at a time till what you hear on the CD and what you are doing on the bass fretboard come in sync -- when this happen you've found the tonal center look down and see what note that happened on - that's the key.

Take it from there.

Easier to do (hear) if you have access to a keyboard - start at middle C and walk up from there.

You can always pick up a Pandora px5d. It has drum machine, effects and all other sorts of things built into it. Plug in a pair of headphones and you got the ultimate practicing machine.

Band In A Box will do, also all that sequencer/Audio DAW type software like Steinberg Cubase, etc. Ableton Live is the one which has 'loop based' structure that you might like.
But also the 'audio editor' software like Steinberg WaveLab, Sony Soundforge etc will do OK.

But surely you must have an Audio Interface, .. The one with 2 channel audio I/O channel via USB will be OK.

Hope it helps

Yep, band in the box is great, you just can't go wrong with it.

If you wanted to take it a little further you could get something like logic/protools or cubase. These programs would give you the option to build up tracks from scratch.

easy man,

Scott.
