Hey all UK residents!

What do you think the music schools that teach bass guitar in the UK are? I am especially interested in London.

Thank you!

Depends what music your looking to study. The good ones for jazz are The Royal Academy, The Guild Hall, Trinity, Middlesex. Also Birmingham conservatoire is good.

Phil,

Thanks for the answer! Actually, I was also interested in schools that teach other music as well ("pop" but this covers a lot of ground)... kind of like The Collective in New York, where you have a lot of styles, not just jazz.

If you're looking to study a diverse amount of styles and techniques for bass and more in a relaxed environment the London Contempory Centre for Music (supported my Middlesex) may be something to check out. I'm doing a performance workshop there right now and its a lot of fun

Check out the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in north London: www.icmp.co.uk
I'm studying there now and it's a really cool place, the teachers are great people.

Hey,
The London Music School (www.tlms.co.uk) is where I studied a few years ago. Smaller, independent place, if you prefer that sort of environment. Presume they still teach the varied curriculum they did when I was there.
