| Often time pop tunes never existed in score form, or the horn and strings parts did, but only at the time they were added to the rhythm tracks in the studio, and then they were lost or tossed out. Transcribing and publishing a score would need copyright clearance. You'll need to do that for yourself... and I know that its a slow and sometimes painful thing to do, but you'll gain a great deal of musical skill from it.
One thing that I've done is to try to find a MIDI file and then open it with a notation program. This doesn't always give what you are looking for. You'll be at the mercy of the MIDI programer and the quantizing abilities of your software. You may see lots of really strange rhthyms and sometimes the parts are not exactly what is on the recording... but it could be enough that it would save you some time in transcribing. Give it try.
And as far as taking California Dreamin' of the recording... the flute solo is almost a quarter tone flat.... ain't life grand?
