I can read, but my sight reading is horrible. I'm in 12th grade and my teacher says I'm reading at 8th grade level, and I think he was being nice about it. How can I get better at reading! Any books or anything? Any techniques, suggestions, or software?

before you sight read a piece take a minute to look at it......note the key,time,speed etc...then read the thing without your bass...note the incidentals, key changes etc.look for the dc al what evers and run through in your head how many times through etc.look for difficult passages where you may have to look at the neck and dont be afraid to use a highlighter to refer back to your place on the page.i used to photocopy practice pieces and tape them together to make one page so i wasnt distracted with page turning..hope that helps
