My beautiful, wonderful, spectacular wife is awesome.
While we were out in NYC this weekend, she told me what my birthday present will be this year (considering my birthday is in JULY, she's a little early!) She is sending me to Florida for a week to do a one week intensive with Jeff Berlin.
I'm pretty psyched!

I'm blessed that my wife really supports my music activity, too.
She's always great with gear and with any gig time I spend.
I think she'd go for something like the Berlin intensive, too - if we actually could afford it.

And yes, I WILL keep my wife! Next month will be our 21st anniversary, so I guess I already consider her a keeper (or does that means that she is simply willing to put up with me)!

They are $75 a lesson if you contact them through the Player's School of Music facebook page. I definately want to go and check this place out. The one-week intensive would be great. it's too bad they don't offer some sort of financial aid program. To have to throw out $24K for the 80 week program seem like a lot of dough all at once. Plus, I don't know what the area is like and how many hours a day you are at the school. Maybe someone has more information about this. Furthermore, I'm jealous beyond belief, hopefully my soon to be wife will be as accomodating when it comes to school, if you haven't already check out my Berklee College of Music thread. Good luck and have fun! Please give us an update when you get back, I definitely want to hear about your experience with this.
-Adam

Jeff, Vicky, Matt, Joe, Ellias, Gumbi, Mick, etc. were awesome! All of us at the one week were bass players this time through which was a first for the school I believe. Thanks for the multiple rides home Jeff and showing me the "grape room". I left my mark on the "Berlin Wall". I'm the big red maple leaf below the door handle. I'll post a couple of photos later.
Chord Tones! Chord Tones! Chord Tones! If you want to learn to read the bass cleft, do walking bass lines and solo to a Jazz chart, then sign up. Want two years of Berklee music theory in a week, sign up. I can't believe how much I have improved. Full immersion with the World's best professionals and the other students was the key.
Everyone was 100% approachable and went out of their way above and beyond the call of duty to answer and thoroughly explain every question.
Jeff Berlin was the politest bass instructor I've ever studied under. I'm a very stubborn person and it was predicted we wouldn't get along by a number of my friends as he is know to be stubborn. In the end I told him to quit being so nice to me and to be tougher on me. He would give me crap then apologize every time! He his a very giving, kind and sensitive individual. He believes strongly in what he teaches and his methods and has received some flack for it but I admire his decisive and straight forward approach and clear answers. He's thought this stuff through.
I've been playing for 35 plus years. Last week was "The Best" push forward I've had in my playing in a long time.
A big thank you everyone at the Players School of Music, staff and all the other students!
If you go, go early and hang out on those Clearwater white sand beaches... and make sure you take a ride on the Jolly Trolly!
