We're playing this great Lincoln Brewster song at church tomorrow morning called "Evelasting God" - pretty quick song, 8th notes pretty much the whole way.
Anyway there is this section during the guitar solo that is ripe for a nice fill or walk between the changes. So the chords are:
B E G# E
so hitting the roots looks like this:
G|-----------------------------------------
D|-----------------------------------------
A|--------------------7777777777777777---
E|-7777777777777777----------------------
G|-----------------------------------------------
D|-----------------------------------------------
A|-11 11 11 11 11 11 11 11-7777777777777777---
E|-----------------------------------------------
Wash, rinse, repeat.
Actually this doesn't sound as bad as it looks, but as a self-respecting bass player I don't see how I can let such a golden opportunity to jam out fly on by

Especially during a rocking song where a little bit more is appropriate.
So I'm trying to come up with some kind of fill/walk between the changes where I spend 8 notes on the root, then the last 8 on the fill/walk to the next chord. But this is where I'm running into a bit of trouble. I don't know any arpeggios, and really only know the major and minor scales.
The first thing I came up with works like this:
G|-----------------------------------------
D|-----------------------------------------
A|---------------6-7-9-7-4-6-77777777----
E|-77777777-7-9---------------------------
Doesn't sound bad but not quite right either. And I'm going strictly on sound rather than music theory because I don't any theory that will help me at this point
While I'd like to get something down for tomorrow morning I'd really like to get a real lesson about the right way to go about doing this type of thing as it would come in handy for a BUNCH of songs.
Any tips or ideas?
