need a good holiday bass book for building and writing basslines!

Ive been playing for 2 and a half years and Id really like to be able to work on my improvization and my ability to write music. Seeing as the holiday is coming up, i thought id add a bass book to my list

So do you have any suggestions for good rock or punk bass books that teach you how to write basslines using theory and stuff?

I dont want a book that is just a book with songs in it, i can play any song if i really wanted to(ok not any...) but i want a book that actually TEACHES you some techniques to writing music.

any suggestions? o id like the book to have tablature in it.

thanks

i HIGHLY recommend this one: http://www.molehillgroup.com/music_theory.htm

it isn't necessarily bass-specific, but it was something my bass instructor told me to get at my first lesson. a really awesome book, makes theory really easy to understand. well written and fun to read, even. it will be your first step in to a much larger world.
