NEED HELP!!!!!!

ok guys this is the sich. Me and my friend just got offered to play at an art galley. We have a 2 hour slot and we May, if we're lucky, get accompaniement from another guitarist or two. I need a good list of accoustic instrumentals that will sound nice as backround music. We have 5 days untill the galley. So Please! post any instrumentals, or what you think would sound good, at this galley. Thanks to anyone that posts

what sort of art gallery? my gf has done a few playing flute trio chamber music, and ive done a few improv avantgarde jazz... (throwing in abit of herbie, no one noticed)


my feeling is, if you have 5 days to prep 2 hours worth of music unrehearsed, and im pressuming without charts, you are better off winging it, or PLAYING SOMETHING YOU ALREADY KNOW.

yea, its not like a strict 2 hours, we may have a cd play while we're not. any tips on easy jazz bass lines? my friends pretty good at improv. just through anything at me that you think is possible.

Cover the entire Revolver album, that would be great with guitar/piano bass, best album ever. Or just about any Beatles, or Rutles album. And it would be a nice fit for the scene.

Or, open up any fake book and start playing.

Play Cavatina over and over. Hire a panflutist to handle the lead melody.












Just joking. More seriously speaking, follow 1954bassman's and stedtale's advice and play songs by the Beatles. You can't go wrong with them, unless you play "twist and shout". If you know any standards, play them too (All of me, I got rhythm, Mack the knife, Fly me to the moon, Jeepers Creepers....). There's hundreds of them. These are some of the easier ones.

I guess it actually doesn't matter too much what you actually play, as long as you're not too loud. If it is background music, be prepared on that the maximum level might be speech level...

Art galleries are Jazz or avant-garde territory bring a Real Book, a Steve Reich CD for background to play over. Artists are their own world and probably have something in mind for what they would like to accompany their work. So I would ask the gallery owner what they are looking for Jazz, lite rock, ambience music. Be prepared to be for things to change.
