Need help w Portrait of Tracy

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I'm learning Portrait of Tracy by Jaco Pastorious using the "Portrait of tracy bass tab" from 'Bassmast.net.' Things start getting tricky around bar 20 (about 55 seconds into the recording) Their are alot of notes in between the harmonic chords. Is their a trick to getting this part? Are their extra notes writen in the tab? Did Jaco have an extra arm?

I'd appritiate some help...

yes, he does hold those notes as he plays the harmonics. These are the fingers I use to play them

G|---[7]-------[7]---------|---[7]---------[7]---------|
D|---[5]-[7]---[5]---[7]---|---[5]---[7]---[5]---[7]----
A|-------[5]---------[5]---|---------[5]---------[5]---|
E|-8---------8-----8-----8-|-7-----7-----7-----7-----7-
---p---------p-----p-----p---r-----r-----r-----r-----r-

Thumbs up Ok

Ok, that helps.
When you play the chord across the D and A strings, do you attack it differently to keep your finger from hitting and muting the E string?
