So i've been playing for about 7 months now. I'm 18, started at the beginning of the school year.
Well, picking up bass was pretty easy, i learned all the scales, modes, intervals, slap, pickstyle, walking stuff. Learned about harmony, melody, inversions, blablabla. Lol i'm not new to music.
I played with some groups, which really helped. im not doing so at the moment.
All this is pretty useless unless i work on ear training, which i have been.

But lately everything has gotten a little boring and i find myself getting sleepy when practicing wayyy too often. getting a good 4 hour practice is really hard now. I want to train my ear, and get better at improvising, i want to hear more and better stuff in my head, i want to get into more funky stuff.
i guess the best way to do that would be just to go ahead and play music with what i got. but bleh. I can noodle out cool sounds on the fretboard some days, other days not... and i'm not always sure what i did. I mean i know, but i don't (you know? )

I guess i'm asking for help on not just learning patterns, but getting super-familiar with the neck. knowing intervals and stuff higher on the fretboard and all over the neck. I wanna get better at hearing chord progressions. single tones are easier, but chords are hard for some reason. and i guess developing my ear in general. More info on modulations would be really nice. any amazing books i'm missing out on? I haven't many books.
but mostly some inspiration... motivation would be nice. I've come a long way, but i'm slowing down. bleh.

Sleepy? Are you standing up? Is your amp loud enough?

When I'm bored I turn on the radio and figure out the bass lines. There's always something out there to challenge you on the radio.
