Hey guys I'm in a practice rut. help me out!

I practice once a week and gig one or two times a week with a band so i'm getting "practice" there and improving.

I play out of Ed Frieland's "Building Walking Bass Lines" as I am trying to work on my jazz chops.

I play along with CDs.

As far as scales and exercises go i don't run that much...double octive major and minor scales....some thirds exercise...

i need to more exercises / scales for when i'm laying in bed watching tv at night. help

what else?

To add to your scale exercises, you could play them in diatonic 7ths.
By this I mean arpeggiate each chord in the scale ascending through the octave (i.e. Cmaj7, Dmin7, Emin7, Fmaj7, G7, Amin7, Bmin7b5, Cmaj7) and then descending starting on the 7th of each chord.
Try this in all 12 keys.

Try sight reading, too (or learn to read music if you can't)

All your modes, in all positions, in all keys.

That should keep you going for a little!
