I just got my Spector Legend 5 Custom yesterday, and I'm trying to adapt to 5 strings.. Now, how did you do that? Just play like normal and you will get used to it, or some special practices or what?

Think from the high g string down, and eventually work your way to including the low string

I may be weird, but I've never had any problems going between 4 and 5 strings. It just worked from the beginning. The only thing I had to get used to was the string spacing difference, but muscle memory has kind of taken care of that.

Don't think about it, just play. I think too many people think themselves in to complications when they add more strings.

If you want to be able to play all over than the best thing to do is work your modes starting on the 5-string and working to the G.

I use the B as a safety net, I largely ignore it but sometimes it makes a fingering easier or lets me go down to D instead of up. I never really plan on using it (it sounds too low for most applications) but everyone once in awhile for ease or variation its good to have around.
