New bass instructor, nervous!

Hey there, just here to ask a quick question.

I've been playing bass for only a week now, but I've got all my major/minor scales in two different positions, and all my seventh chords down so far.

I just came home from watching a live concert, and I got to talking with the bass player. Turns out this guy is really well known in the jazz scene, and I must have done something to impress him, because he's decided to take me on as a student.

I'm petrified right now, I feel like I'll be wasting his time learning under him since I'm so new and most of his concepts will be going over my head, but I feel like this could be an amazing experience!

What should I do to prepare for my first lesson with this guy? What should I be working on?

His name is Rene Worst if you've ever heard of him, you can see some of his playing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb-zLq2mbWs

Thanks for the help guys! Really nervous :0, don't want to blow it.

Just remember, he's the teacher - so he's the one who knows what you need to work on, he's the one who knows how much work to set for you, how often you need to take lessons etc. Turn up on time & do the work he sets for you. You won't be wasting anyone's time then

Good luck with the lessons, looks like you'll learn some good stuff

my best advise is be honest about your skill level at the start of the lesson. when i started my lessons, we sat down and i just played a few things. any good teacher will be able to direct you from there.
