I'm new to bass and new to these forums. (Hi, I'm Isaac.)

Anyway, I just bought a bass (a redburst sx jb if anyone cares) but the amp I bought is on backorder and won't be here for two weeks. : (

Is there anything I can do to practice until I get the amp?

Thanks in advance.

Yep. Play your bass.

It'll be quiet, but you'll be able to hear it.

Butt the bass up against a wall and it will become a big speaker (kind of) I did this for over a year before I got my first amp. I also experimented on most of the furniture in our house. It's all resonance...

or butt your forehead against the horn. You could just about play through a HiFi via the phono input.

Seriously though, unplugged is fine. I do it a lot. In fact, right now, I am relearning my whole technique. I find that acoustic shows up some things that an amplifier hides, so its better for you right now.

Could be to your advantage to get started developing proper technique. Work on playing with good fingering just behind the fret, focus on alternating fingers in right hand. Play a C major scale on one string at a time. By time your amp gets here you will know your notes on the neck and basic right and left hand technique.
