new school RnB / hip-hop?

hey all,

i've been trying to get into new school RnB stuff like jill scott and d'angelo, but i can't find any books or transcriptions. can anyone recommend some resources to me?

honestly the best advice is just to learn by ear. it will help you more in the long run and you'll become a better musician because of it.

just really listen to the CD a lot and then try and play along and hear the bassline and play and learn it.

The more you do it, the better you'll get at it and the faster you'll be picking stuff up.

Yeah, especially if you're listening to guys like Hub or Pino. The transcription can give you the notes, but there is so much to learn about the WAY the notes are played that you can't get off a page. Feel, tone, and phrasing are all-important. KEEP LISTENING!!!
