You should try to learn as much by ear as possible, then use the tab for parts you dont know.

I know but im not that good, i also dont like doing that because all the tabs ive seen are different which means thats what everyone else thought they could hear and one of there versions is obviously wrong. I want to play the exact same as nirvanas bassist did |

| | | | If you want to play it exactly as Nirvana's bassist did, I suggest you try as hard as possible to use your ear to figure it out if you don't trust someone else's tab.
The first note is A. |

Krist plays In Bloom farther up on the neck than I do, but as long as you're hitting the same notes you'll be getting the message across. When picking there is some difference from string to string, is that what's motivating this desire?

Well the first tab i saw for the begining part of the song was on the E and A strings and the other tab i saw which was using exactly the same frets but it was on the D and G strings |

There is a tablature forum for questions such as this...

Just give it a go, and I mean for more than 5 minutes. Spend a good 1/2 hour or so on it.

You just gotta keep looking for the right note until what you play on your bass matches what you hear on the recording. And just keep in mind that there's several places on the fretboard that are the same note. Even if the tone is just a little different being on the right note is more important.
You've already been using your ears by stating how some of the tabs sound wrong, so trust your judgement. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
