A little bit of super glue on your finger tips can provide a slight faux callous as you build your own.

i use the same technique stepswork4me is suggesting. however instead of super glue, i use that liquid bandage solution thats an alternative to a band-aid. i brush a little bit of it on my fingers after i get home from work, i put boxes together all day and my fingers get really tender, and that seems to work wonders for me.

Beat them with a hammer. By comparison, playing bass will be a walk in the park.

Seriously, use less pressure until you build up the callouses. I don't know if there's a really quick way to do this.

having already experience with the situation I'm sure your body (your fingers in this case) will adapter faster than if you are a newbie.

Don't be in such a hurry. You'll get there simply by playing every day. When it hurts, stop.
