2 - 3 weeks should not be a problem. Playing through an injury might be more of a problem. Do something musical during your vacation, like reading up on theory. Ramp up slowly when you get back on your horse.

Best of luck!

You'll get a bit rusty, but it will come right back.

nope. I have done extensive traveling and not played for months at a time, and it always comes back. You lose a little flexibility and dexterity, but it will bounce back. If you want to be twice the musician spend those 2-3 weeks transcribing your favorite bass solo or walking bass line.

Rest the injury. You will remember what to do and your hands will adjust. If you don't believe that, ride a bike if you haven't done so for a long time. Same thing....

I've done this before on more than one occasion. Hell, I've taken months off on a couple of occasions. You'll be a little rusty, but it'll only take a few days to get back into shape.

Everything that can be stated has been. But in the meantime...

If your fretting-had is alright get one of these babies: http://www.shredneck.com/products.html

If your striking-hand is alright then just practice striking the strings as fast as you can

I often find myself playing more solid and more creatively for a while after I take a long break.

Big +1, I've been rather neglectful of practising because of coursework deadlines and hefty revision for university. But the few times I have sat down and had a noodle, it's been very refreshing to come out with something outside of the mindset I approached a practice session with last time.

Definite props to those who have said transcribe songs, I tend to accumulate a list of things I want to try out because of this Absence makes the heart grow fonder?
