Observations From a Newbie

Hi, everyone. I started playing bass about two months ago and started on this forum just before that. I have to say, this is the most friendly and helpful forum I have ever seen.

My first post (Short Scale Bass Sound) was before I even bought my bass. I was curious if I would compromise tone by buying a short scale instead of a standard. Honestly, I expected a lot of replies along the lines of "you wuss" and "short scales are for sissies/kids." Instead, I got responses like "if that's what makes you comfortable" and "the audience will never know." So I bought my short scale

I've posted a few other questions and I've read maybe a hundred other threads. Rarely are there flame responses.

I just thought I should take a minute to tell you all how much I appreciate the supportive nature of this forum. And how much I'm enjoying learning the bass!

Thanks for being so classy!

Michael

Grats on joining the bass player club. It will be a never-ending learning process to go along with your GAS.

I agree that this place is awesome and a treasure trove of knowledge.

what I wanna know is if there is a guitar forum and drum forum like this, where everyone hates the bassists.

I guess I'm lucky. I gig regularly with bands that have guitarists who groove like crazy all through the set.

Michael - good to hear that you're enjoying the site.

I agree with the op: this is a kind of a unique place online (very few d-bags). Glad you got good advice.
