Only slap/pop octaves?

Sign in to disble this ad
It seems that the most popular notes to slap/pop are the root, octave and minor seventh. What are some other slap/pop combos used and what genres of music can I find them? The only guys I see using minor thirds and sixths in slap and pop are Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten.

Larry Graham has used numerous intervals over the years.

well, im not that good slapper and I don't usually slap that much, keep that in mind, but when i do slap, i think mostly in a pentatonic or blues scale, so... fourths, perfect fifths, diminished fifth(blues), minor third, root or octave, minor seventh.
some hammer ons and pullf offs, slides.. ah u get it

All the intervals you said are good, but play em 1 or even 2 octaves higher.
Sixths are great too especially an octave higher.

Double stops and arpeggiated power chords can be cool as well. Chromatic walkups can be very cool too, but you probably already know that.

Flea Slappin'

You may or may not like Flea, but he does have some cool interval uses.

Tenths are pretty cool.
