piano sheet music - does it work for bass?

Ok to you guys who are total geniuses when it comes to music theory this question may seem a little silly but ive basically just started to read sheet music (badly but i give it a shot) anyway one of my main problems is most of the stuff for bass guitar (or indeed double bass or anything else written in bass clef) is that the books all seem to be stuff like "advance jazz basslines for people who have been playing for 50 years" - well you get my point

anyway, theres a book in the piano section which is basically the beatles greatest hits, the book has both the treble clef music and the bass clef music. My question is will the music in bass clef be exactly note for note what macca was playing on bass at the time?
or will it be a variation which has been adapted for piano?

maybe im reading into this a little too much but ive spent years reading tab and basically if theres no fret numbers under the notes then i didnt buy the book!

thanx in advance

The piano stuff is rarely if ever note for note.....usually just a part adapted for piano, and often very poorly at that.

I have this same problem, as I'm in a band that plays jewish music, and there is basically no bass notes for it.

I use the piano bass clef as sort of a starting point for developing bass lines.
