Play & Turn?

I'm a beginner at playing songs that are multiple pages where you have to flip through( Coda, D.S. al Coda). I have a rough time playing and being able to flip thru to read to music!

Any Suggestions, Tips?

When it comes to flipping back and forth, I've been known to use colored post-it notes to know where I'm going. Just little tabs of paper sticking up. Otherwise, the best way to go is still memorizing your music. Anyone performing should be able to play without the paper unless it's a sightreading gig.

what i do is photocopy the parts and glue them into one or two big sheets.......a piece of card to extend the width of your music stand and bobs your uncle.......a highlighter for the ds al coda's etc,or color/number code if you need to

Good stuff guys. I didn't think of photocopying, and making one big sheet. I'll try that.

Ya, we usually tape sheets together so we can lay it all out at once in my band. But we do still need to flip occasionally, and that's where being able to fret notes with one hand comes in handy

a big +1 here

having to read off of piano/vocal scores (sightreading) with 5 bars per page makes being a one handed bassist seem very apealing.

I find jotting down the next chord (or note) on the bottom of each page helps too... at least then you can let that right while you turn the page nd catch up... most people wouldn't notice

My drummer does something similar to what has been mentioned here.

He took a relatively light piece of that cardboard/press board you see in garages and shops all the time, with all the holes in it (sorry, I don't know whats called)- which is about twice the size of the music stand- and used some small clamps you can get at any hardware store to attach it to the stand. Then tapes or thumb tacks to music to it.

It works really well for him.
