Plucking hand soreness

My whole hand aches pretty bad today after doing two hand tapping stuff yesterday. This is not the first time. Is this normal or am I starting to get a repetitive stress injury? What do you guys do to avoid this?

Yep, just took an Aleve gelcap and some acetaminophen. Will the rubber band exercise help you think?

It shouldn't really hurt afterwards. I suggest you go see a doctor, make sure it's not some repetitive stress injury. After that, go take some private lessons with somebody who has a very polished technique. Have him try to correct your form.

Martin Bormann, thanks for the advice. I am going to do what another TB'er did which is post a video so I can get some critiquing here, lessons are not really an option for me. I think a lot of this was using my plucking hand for fretting while doing tapping stuff, as I've never had it hurt this bad. But I will ask my doctor about it next time I go.

Painkillers are never the solution for a technique problem.

Well no s***. I took them because my hand hurt, not so I could correct my apparently crap technique. FWIW NSAIDs are not even classified as painkillers. APAP however is a non-narcotic analgesic.

obviously his whole point is incorrect because his terminology was not out of a pharmasists textbook.

sounds to me like you need a nap..

Other than tapping, I'm not even doing anything differently than I have for the past 10 years. I will try the exercises recommended in another thread; but I sure as hell can't afford to go see a doctor unfortunately.

Well, if it continues I'd just ask your doctor to make sure... it maybe be as simple as when you go to the gym and come back sore.

Edit:
I just re-read the thread above.
Perhaps post a video of it and maybe we can give some advice... other than that, free clinics come to mind but those aren't fun for anyone.

Well, good luck doing the video route. I wouldn't go cheap on something like that, but whatever.
