Nothing fancy (no pc needed ) , I use an Alesis SR-16 connected to a small guitar amp. It's user friendly with practical pre-set beats. about $139.00......

hammerhead (http://www.threechords.com/hammerhea...oduction.shtml) is a free drum program for your computer. it's very simple and does the job. another good approach, however, is to just use a simple click and impose your own rhythm/groove.

Zoom B2 has some basic drum patterns that are fine for practicing. It also has a very basic tuner. And of course, it has effects.

I have the G2 that I use to practice g****r, and I'd say I've definitely gotten my $89 worth (amaz0n).
