I had a private lesson with Anthony this morning. Wow, what a great teacher. If you have the chance to attend one of his clinics or have lessons with him, I would highly recommend it.

I've taken alot of classes in alot of different subjects over the years. NOBODY has been able to communicate to me the way this man does. It's like, within minutes, he knows exactly what you need to know. Amazing.

dDaddy,
I'm glad that you got to experience a lesson with Anthony. He is a great teacher. I think what makes him so good is that he wants to teach. This isn't something that he does as a stepping stone to something else.

Please check out his youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/antwellington and his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/BASSOLOGY

I've been studying with Anthony for about 2 years. He's prolly the best teacher of any subject I've ever seen. He lives down the street from me, so when he gets a minute, he'll come by and we will fire up the grill, have a couple of steaks and then jam for several hours. It's like an all day private lesson!

That's awesome, and your right. The best instructor in any subject that I've ever had.

Ant is the man! I've been fortunate to have a few lessons with him in the past.
He also has a great Slap Bass Course at MusicDojo.com as well.
His lessons have kept me off the streets for a long time!
He's the best teacher around and a great guy as well.

AS Dave , or anyone who has had a lesson from Ant might realize, he is the conssumate music teacher; he is totally immersed in teaching, and it WAY shows!

It drives me crazy... Waldorf is 2 hours away. It's like lessons with him are juuuuuust beyond my reach. If it was an hour I'd probably do it. Maybe even an hour and a half.

I also took a 1 hour lesson while Anthony was in Blacksburg. If you have an opportunity to see a clinic, it's worth the drive. I'm double-motivated now to learn and improve, thanks to the clinic and lesson!

For the record, I drove down from Buffalo to meet the man ( it did coincide with a car show up in North East MD) .

One lesson a month with Ant is doable for you, and I might take the position that it might be worth as much as four regular lessons. But YMMV.

I heard of a guy who took a months leave of absence from his job and took an apartment nearby to study with Ant. He came from Japan...

My lessons are once a week, but trust me, once a month with him is probably better than a regular teachers once a week lesson. He is no ordinary teacher... Before I came to him, I didn't play bass. Didn't even own one. Never owned one or even thought of owning one... I played piano... Anyhow, I just heard that he was giving beginner lessons and found out he lives a stones throw from me. I had heard of him before that, but didn't think much about it. A co-worker told me that he had a studio close by. So I called him up and he had one spot and I took it. I wanted to study with a master from the ground up... Then I asked him what bass to buy, lol.

So, after about a year of lessons, I auditioned with a blues and cover band, got the gig and I've have played in an alt-country band on a few impromptu gigs. My regular band was together for 8 years before me, and they say I'm the best bass player they ever had. Not to toot my horn, but I think my drummer is pretty awesome (the kid has perfect time) and I've been told he will eject a bad bass player in a heartbeat... Those lessons allow me to play pretty much anything. Not that classic rock and blues is a mental mindblower or anything... But, I'm kinda obsessed with bass and I practice all the time. I've got a line on a fusion band looking for a bassist starting sometime after the holidays, so I may try that out next year... I know I'm not some kinda phenom, but I can play a bass well enough to gig and make some pretty good money and that's pretty cool for only having played for a couple of years.

But anyway, all I'm saying is that it works, as long as you put in the time... there is no magic finger dust, but he will teach you what you need to know, to play anything you want.
