How does this work as guitarists strum all there strings together and we generally play all the strings seperately.

The easiest start to this is a chord arpeggio with the (1) on the one count (3) on the three count (5) on the four count and then to the (1) of the next chord if needed.

There are so many ways to do it but this should be a start.

If you're a beginner, skip playing chords. Very likely 99,9% of the gigs you'll ever play will involves playing one note at a time for 99,9% of the time. The remaining 0,01% of the time, the chords you're playing will be voluntary. Chords on bass can sound very nice, but I'd say skip them for now.

You can, and should, start play chord arpeggios like BobaFret mentioned above. Just learn basic harmony theory so you know at least what the difference is between major, minor and diminished (incl. half diminished) chords. What chords are played is very important if you want or need to play anything else than root notes, but you seldom need to play the chords themselves (meaning playing several notes simultaneously).
