question about cannibal corpses tuneing

Sign in to disble this ad
alright, i heard that they tune their guitars in Eb and his bass in standerd(5 string) so, when they hit open Eb he hits open B correct? so hes hitting a diffrent note then them everytime? so he plays the fifth of every root note or wut?

No. When they play open Eb, he plays the 4th fret on the B string, meaning he also plays an Eb.

Well, he doesn't have to do it like that, but that's what you were asking if Alex mirrored the guitarist.

i always assumed Alex tuned his bass a semi tone lower just like the guitarists, eg : Bb Eb Ab Db Gb - meaning for the most part he will be playing the riffs on the E and using the B string for when he wants to go lower. But yeh, if you want to learn Corpse songs and you have a 5 string - for the most part you wont have to tune it lower if you dont want to, just play the Eb on the 4th fret of the B string. It can get a bit tricky though with certain riffs that are technical as you will have to remember its alot easier to go from a complicated riff into an open riff than it is to go from something complex and then jump to the 4th fret ...but if you practise it all nice and slow first it shouldnt be a problem

I can't find anything on their website, and I don't even see how they can answer a question such as this.

well according to the Cannibal Corpse website 'Eb Ab Db Gb on four string bass, so tune down to that and you'll probably be able to get it' for most of their material and additionally he states he used a 'Spector NS USA 5 String bass(for songs tuned to Bb)' on Vile. Which confirms what I said earlier...so I have no idea why you are telling us 'Wow........... Just... Wow.. I am not even gonna humor you guys with a correct answer' - when we already had it....tsk

Uh...his 4 strings are tuned D#/Eb standard (Eb Ab Db Gb) and his 5 strings are tuned A#/Bb standard (Bb Eb Ab Db Gb)...those are the tunings they've used for basically everything up to Kill, as far as I know. Hence why Pat and Rob use 7 strings half of the time.

I think Kill has a couple songs in even lower tunings (or maybe higher?) or something, but I'm not sure.

You people really don't understand his question.

It's not "how does CC tune?"

It's "if he hits a Eb, I need to hit a B, because they are on the same spot, right?"

No when the guitars hit Eb he hits the same not on his Eb string (his E string tuned to Eb, just like the rest of his bass his tuned a half step down).
